SECTION 01Who we are and what this policy covers
XR Industrial ("XR Industrial," "we," "us," or "our") builds extended reality (XR) and augmented reality (AR) software for industrial operations and public experiences. This Privacy Policy applies to:
- our mobile applications distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play (the "Apps");
- AR experiences we create, whether delivered through our Apps or through third-party platforms (Section 6 explains how third-party platforms are handled); and
- this website, xrindustrial.co (the "Site").
Together, these are our "Services." Questions about this policy can be sent to matt@xrindustrial.co.
Where we provide an App to a business customer — for example, an industrial operator deploying our AR tools to its technicians — that customer's agreement with us and its own privacy notices may also govern how your information is handled. See Section 3.6.
SECTION 02Internet connectivity
Our Apps are connected applications. They use your device's internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to:
- Download AR content — 3D models, overlays, animations, and experience data that are too large, or change too often, to bundle inside the App.
- Load live data — for industrial Apps, retrieve and display information such as instrument readings, equipment status, digital twin data, and maintenance procedures from systems operated by or on behalf of your organization.
- Authenticate — verify your sign-in, where an App requires an account.
- Report diagnostics — send crash reports and performance information that help us find and fix problems.
- Stay current — check for content changes and confirm the App and its content are working correctly.
What is transmitted
Whenever an App communicates over the internet, certain technical information is necessarily sent to the servers it connects to, including your IP address, device type and model, operating system and version, App version, language and region settings, and the date and time of the request. We use this information to deliver content in the right format, keep the Services secure, and troubleshoot problems.
Offline use
Some content may be stored on your device so it can be viewed without a connection, but features that depend on downloaded content, live data, or sign-in will be limited or unavailable offline.
Data charges
AR content can be large. Standard carrier data rates may apply when you use the Apps over a mobile network. You can restrict an App to Wi-Fi in your device settings.
Encryption
Data the Apps send to our servers is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
SECTION 03Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Contact information, such as your name, email address, and organization, when you email us or request a demo.
- Account information, such as a username, email address, and password, where an App requires sign-in. For industrial Apps, accounts are usually created by your employer.
- Feedback and support requests, including anything you choose to include in messages to us.
3.2 Device and usage information
When the Apps connect to the internet (Section 2), we automatically receive your IP address, device and operating system information, App version, and language and region settings, along with diagnostic data such as crash logs, error reports, and performance metrics. We may also collect information about how features are used — for example, which AR experience was opened and for how long — to improve the Apps.
3.3 Camera and sensor data
AR requires your camera. When you use an AR feature, the App analyzes the live camera image together with motion and orientation sensor data to understand your surroundings — detecting surfaces, images, markers, and equipment — so it can anchor digital content to the real world.
- This processing happens in real time, on your device.
- We do not upload, store, or have access to your camera feed, except when you choose to capture and share a photo or video, or when a feature clearly tells you, before you use it, that imagery will be sent.
- We do not use camera data to identify you, and we do not collect facial recognition data or other biometric identifiers.
3.4 Location information
Some AR experiences are tied to real places — a mural, a landmark, a location on an industrial site. Where a feature needs your location, the App asks for your permission first. Location is used to find and display experiences near you and to place content accurately. You can decline or revoke location access at any time, and the rest of the App will continue to work. We do not sell location data or use it for advertising.
3.5 Photos and media
If an App lets you capture photos or video of an AR experience, it asks for permission before saving to your photo library. Captures are saved on your device and are shared only if you choose to share them.
3.6 Business customer data (industrial Apps)
Our industrial Apps may display or process operational data supplied by our business customers — for example, equipment identifiers and tag numbers, sensor readings, process data, digital twin models, and maintenance procedures — along with records of work performed in the App. We process this data on behalf of the customer, according to its instructions and our agreement with it. If you use an industrial App through your employer, you may also direct privacy questions about that data to your employer.
SECTION 04App permissions
The Apps may request the following device permissions. Each is used only for the purpose described.
| Permission | Why we ask | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Internet / network access | Download AR content, load live data, sign in, and send diagnostics (see Section 2). | Yes — core features need a connection. |
| Camera | Show the live view and track your surroundings for AR. Processed on your device. | Yes, for AR features. |
| Motion & orientation sensors | Track how your device moves so content stays anchored in place. | Yes, for AR features. |
| Location | Find and place location-based experiences. | Optional. |
| Photos / media library | Save photos or videos you capture. | Optional. |
| Microphone | Record sound with a video capture, only where an App offers this and you choose to use it. | Optional. |
You can review or change permissions at any time in your device's Settings app. Turning a permission off may disable the features that depend on it.
SECTION 05How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including delivering AR content and live data;
- authenticate users and secure accounts;
- diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance and features;
- protect the security and integrity of the Services and prevent misuse;
- respond to your messages and provide support; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
SECTION 07Data retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, and no longer than the periods below unless a longer period is required by law or needed to investigate a security incident or misuse:
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Connection and server logs (IP address, device, OS and App version, request times) | Up to 90 days, then deleted. |
| Crash reports and diagnostics | Up to 90 days, then deleted. |
| Feature-usage information | Up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated so it no longer identifies you. |
| Location | Used at the moment you need it to find and place nearby content. We do not keep a history of your location. |
| Photos, video, or imagery you choose to send us | Until the request it relates to is resolved, then deleted within 90 days. |
| Account information | While your account is active; deleted within 30 days after you or your organization request deletion. |
| Messages you send us | As long as needed to respond and to keep a record of our business correspondence. |
| Business customer data | According to our agreement with that customer. |
| Website request logs | Kept by our host, Netlify, under its own retention practices (see Section 12). |
How to request deletion
Email matt@xrindustrial.co with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." Tell us which App or service you used and the email address or account involved. We will confirm your request and delete your data — including your account, if you have one — within 30 days, except for information we are legally required to keep. If an App offers an in-app option to delete your account, you can use that as well.
Revoking consent
You can withdraw camera, location, photo, and microphone permissions at any time in your device settings, and you can stop all collection by an App by uninstalling it.
SECTION 08Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email matt@xrindustrial.co. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- EEA and UK residents. We process personal information to provide the Services you request (performance of a contract), for our legitimate interests in securing and improving the Services, with your consent (for example, location access), and to meet legal obligations. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request its deletion or correction; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your right to object
Where we process your information based on our legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing at any time. To object, email matt@xrindustrial.co. We will stop the processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or we need the information to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Do Not Track
We do not track you across third-party websites or apps over time, and we do not allow third parties to do so through our Services for advertising. Because of this, our Services do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
SECTION 09Children's privacy
Our Apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). Some of our public AR experiences are designed to be enjoyed by all ages, but they do not require anyone to provide personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
SECTION 10Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
SECTION 11International data transfers
We and our service providers may process information in the United States and in other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live.
When personal data is transferred from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to a country that has not received an adequacy decision, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum where applicable), or on another lawful transfer mechanism such as a recipient's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing matt@xrindustrial.co.
SECTION 12This website
xrindustrial.co does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers. However:
- Hosting. The Site is hosted by Netlify, which automatically processes standard request information — such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested — to deliver and secure the Site, and keeps those logs under its own privacy policy.
- Fonts. The Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser requests them from Google's servers, which receive your IP address under Google's privacy policy.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
SECTION 13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our Services change. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you within the Apps or on this page before the changes take effect.
